2013 in review: Major Headlines, Band Reunions and Crowd-sourcing

RadioU December 25, 2013 Insider 1 Comment

2013 brought lots of interesting music news, but none had the impact of Solomon Olds, aka Soul Glow Activator, stepping down as lead singer of Family Force 5. After initial worry from fans, the FF5 didn’t skip a beat. They brought on new drummer Hollywood, and Crouton went from the party in the back to the business up front and took over as vocalist. Anyone who saw their recent Christmas pageant tour knows the band is in good hands.

A few bands were resurrected from the ashes this year, including Close Your Eyes, who added Sam Robinson as lead singer and released a new album, Line In The Sand. RadioU Fusion’s The Procussions reunited after seven years and dropped lots of new music and Former Emery vocalist Devin Shelton rejoined the band as they hit the road for their Weak’s End Anniversary Tour.

Also, tons of RadioU bands successfully crowd-funded their albums this year, including Kye Kye, The Classic Crime, The Fold, Mike Mains & The Branches, Seabird, Emery, Abandon and The Wild Wild.
