Obadiah says goodbye…

Obadiah says goodbye…

Let’s get the difficult part over first:

After more than twenty years of service, I am leaving RadioU. It’s harder to type than it is to read. The internet would no doubt ask, “Why though?” Read on for more.

Usually when people leave an organization it’s because something is wrong with them (the person) or with the organization. In this case, neither is true. In prayer, the Lord told me that it was time for me to leave RadioU. When I started here a long time ago, He told me that a time would come when He would have something else for me to do.

It’s time.

I love RadioU with all my heart. I believe strongly in what we do and why we do it. I’m asking you to continue to support, not just financially but with your ears as well. The RIOT will now be Nikki and Hudson. Show up for them. Send them text messages. Pray for them. Pray for me as I continue to seek God’s guidance for what this “other” thing is that I’m going to go do.

I am overwhelmingly grateful to the staff and management of RadioU for their decades of support to me personally and especially grateful to Nikki for being one of the best friends I have ever had. She has seen me at my worst and kept showing up and pulled me along through difficult times. You couldn’t ask for a better friend or finer co-host.

Thank YOU for listening and supporting and allowing me to work a dream job. Jesus is with us and will continue to be there every single moment of every day! Let’s continue to put our faith in Him as things change.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

— Love, Obadiah

Obadiah’s influence at RadioU and his efforts to reach our listeners with Jesus cannot be understated. He will be sorely missed by us and obviously by you, our listeners. We pray nothing but the best for him as he pursues the next chapters of his life and what God has prepared for him and his family. Obadiah’s final morning on The RIOT was Friday, May 28, 2021.

I’ve been so hesitant to read this page, and listen to your bye clip for several days. I really can’t imagine RadioU without you. Loved your commitment to lovingly introduce Christ on the Riot. God bless you bro! Can’t wait to hear about your “next”.

Oh my goodness! I’m sad to read that you’re leaving but I understand that God has plans for you. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the sun. Your perspective on the world has always been uplifting and entertaining and I feel like you’ve been a guiding force in my life. Thank you for lending your voice to over 20 years of my mornings. I’m going to miss hearing you! I totally cried while typing this. :’)

Can’t say enough how seriously funny you have been with Nikki and the whole crew…and bringing authenticity and laughter while also jumping off into being real about Jesus for literally thousands of high school and college students who were living during a “quietly desperate” time of their lives. A voice holding some hope in their lives, before turning the dial or moving on

This includes for my daughters and many others we shared RadioU with. Music selection, amazing big sound, artist promotion…all “A game” for Columbus and beyond. Thank YOU and Jesus for the past 2 decades!

Obi, praying that God will lead you to the next great chapter in your life! We will definitely miss you in our household. We drive the kids by the Radiou office every morning on the way to school and they were so excited to know that you guys were in there broadcasting while we were listening and driving by. We will miss you, take care!

Wait … what about the Christmas channel??
    “They’re singing deck the halls
But it’s not like Christmas at all
Cause I remember when you were here
And all the FUN we had last year “

    “Baby please come home “

Obadiah, you are an amazing person and you will be missed. I wish you, your family, and RadioU all the best going forward.

I will forever remember “winning” the Roady for a Day contest for RadioU’s fifth birthday and meeting you for the first time. You didn’t know me from Jack, but as we walked out to the truck, you asked if I had listened to your remote spot earlier in the day and what I thought about it and was it funny. It was. We probably didn’t spend more than ten minutes together that day, but from that point on, you always recognized me and called me by name. That always impressed me and felt good. Thanks!

I will be praying for you and yours.

And here I still remember being in college and being annoyed that you were leaving the show you hosted on TVU to do the Riot in the mornings. This was before I could have RadioU in my back pocket, and a 17″ laptop wasn’t really portable for mobile listening ;p You’d refer to your wife as your “girlfriend for life,” and, though it was in the infancy of hashtags, I’d think #LifeGoals.

My head and my heart both hurt, and not just because today feels like Monday…

Obadiah, you will be greatly missed. You have been highly entertaining and inspirational over the many years I’ve been listening. To me, you and Nikki are the face of RadioU and things will never be the same. Regardless, RadioU will still have a great place in my heart and will still receive my support. Best to you and your new chapter in life.

Thanks for being you. It’s difficult to be honest and not just put on a face. My wife was hospitalized with bipolar about the time you started getting real with your mental health struggles on air. It gave me more compassion for her, this wasn’t something she could just snap out of. Hearing you constantly declaring the gospel, even when you may not feel like it was a huge testament in how God was/is glorified through you. Thanks again for the years of laughter, filling my head with strange and useless info :-), and bringing things back to our relationship with Jesus.

You have been a true blessing to me over the past 20 years. I have enjoyed having you accompany me to work every day. I pray that God continues to bless you in your future endeavors.

‘May God bless you and keep you. May He make his face to shine upon you and give you peace.’ – Praying great joy for you in your next season. It’s been great to listen to you and Nikki over the years.

    Obi,
Thank you for the daily morning entertainment, encouragement and information! I’ve learned so much from this show, from you and Nikki. God’s blessings to your future. You will be missed.
I used to listen to a morning show out of Albuquerque, and Matt Lott from House of Heroes was on there for awhile. He’s the one that mentioned RadioU, so I tried it. Love it!
I will continue to listen and support. It won’t be the same though. I enjoy listening to Hudson in the afternoons, Battle of the Buzz, Most Wanted. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
    Thank you! Take Care!
P.S. Obi, thank you for sharing about your family. So cool. God bless you all

It’s interesting….I listened to you for such a long time on my too-lengthy drives to work. This past year, with having to work from home and navigate my son’s virtual schooling at the same time, it became difficult to work full time, be a second grader, and try to stay tuned to the Riot. I needed an oil change very badly this morning, and it gave me the chance to tune in, and low and behold, it is your last day!! Thank you, universe, for getting me some time to listen to the radio today. Thank you, Obie, for always being there, for your humor, your interests, your perspective, and most of all, your message. It all lives on with me! Best to you!

Obadiah, no words can express the appreciation I have for you having listened to you for years and years. You and Nikki made a wonderful team, and your transparent personality lifted so many people each day, including me. You will be missed greatly, by many, but we know that God is good and will lead you where you need to go, and help us through our missing you. God bless and THANK YOU for so many years together!!

    Obadiah,

First of all thank you for being such an amazing radio host. I have so much enjoyed listening to you and Nikki during my morning commute and sometimes later when I have a chance. I love how you talk about fun and unique topics but also spend a good chunk of time letting people know how great our God is and what He has done for you and can do for others. I had thought recently about how it just seems too good to last forever (RIOT) and I was so sad to hear that you are leaving much sooner after all. We are praying for you as you find the next adventure that God calls you to. Thank you again for being such an amazing and fun host!!! I appreciate you!!! ☺️

I started listening to you guys in high school back around 2005 when I discovered TVU ^_^. You guys were the first podcast I ever subscribed to and listened to regularly. Through the past 14 years, I have checked in and out and I have always enjoyed that you take fun seriously and I have modeled that in my own life, with at least some influence from you. Thanks so much for being a great influence in the larger community for so long! ^_^

Obadiah, it has been such a pleasure listening to you and Nikki the past 16 years! Your humor has been a highlight on my morning commute!
